Who Says You Can't Get Blood Out Of A Seller?

Can't get blood out of a seller? Or a buyer?  Or how about a real estate professional, a lender or even a turnip?  Well, yes you can.  OK, maybe not the turnip.  But you can get blood out of the rest of the above - and from yourself.
 
As part of its ongoing community service activities, Preview Properties in Brighton, Michigan is hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross on Tuesday, January 29th from 11 am to 4:45 pm.  Donating is easy and you get the chance to potentially affect the lives of 3 people in a positive way.  And while supplies last, donors will be getting coupons for a free donut from Dunkin' Donuts.  So if you know any policeman that can swing by, this might be right up their alley!

And Preview Properties is a major drop off center for the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, too, so bring along any old cell phones you may have to help the members of our Armed Forces.

12 Days of Gleaners

Last year, local radio station WHMI (93.5 FM) in Howell, Michigan, began a program to raise money for Gleaners Food Bank of SE Michigan. WHMI partners with the Howell Soft Cloth Car Wash for the 12 days prior to Thanksgiving to raise funds. With Gleaners’ buying power, $1 will feed 1 person for 1 day.


Volunteer organizations each take a day and solicit change from the customers at the carwash. Today is the day that I help out with the rest of the Brighton Optimist Club. We’ll be on site from 10am to 6pm. My shift is from noon to 1pm.

WHMI was pleased with the contribution level in 2010, their first year, but hope to do even better this year. Gleaners of Livingston County cannot meet the needs of the county on their own, and regularly food from other Gleaners locations have to be brought in. If you live in Livingston County, consider stopping by today between 10am and 6pm to make a small monetary donation. No family should have to go hungry and the needs are more acute during the holiday season.

Kudos to WHMI and the Howell Soft Cloth Car Wash for their efforts, as well as to the Brighton Optimist Club and other community groups that each take a day for service to those in need.

You’d Better Believe It’s A Tough Market – We Want Your Blood!

It’s that time again! Preview Properties conducts at least one community service function every month. Past beneficiaries have been Gleaner’s Food Bank, LACASA, The Connection House, The Salvation Army, Family Impact Center, Livingston Educational Service Association, Cell Phones For Soldiers, and of course, the Livingston County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Please consider a blood donation. This Red Cross chapter provides 97% of all of the County’s blood needs, as well as their emergency services for local disasters and emergency messages for families with overseas servicemen and servicewomen. It’s an easy way to give back to your community.

Our blood drive will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 from noon till 6pm. The office is located at 130 W. Grand River Ave, Brighton 48116. Parking available along side of the building on St. Paul Street or in our lot, accessed from St. Paul Street between Grand River and N East Street. Hear The Bell? It May Be Me!

On Thursday, December 4th, I’ll be joining my colleagues from the Brighton Optimist Club to ring bells for the Salvation Army. We’ll be in front of Taorello’s Market Place, 1007 E. Grand River, Brighton 48116, from 10am - 8pm.

If you’re in the area, stop by and say “Hello!” to an Optimist – especially if it’s a cold day. We’ll be working in one hour shifts, and I can tell you that standing for an hour on a cold day is a challenge. My time slot is from 3-4pm, and I’d especially love to see you and exchange greetings of the season!

This year’s campaign kicked off on November 14th, and the goal is $145,000. The Salvation Army also runs an Adopt-A-Family program to make sure that nobody is forgotten during the Holidays.

This is just one of the many community service projects that the Brighton Optimist Club undertakes each year. Sometimes your time and energy is as important as a monetary donation (or more so!).

Aprils' Community Service - Cell Phones For Soldiers

Here at Preview Properties, we select a new community service project each month. For April 2008, our project is 'Cell Phones For Soldiers'.

Stop in at the office located at 130 W. Grand River, Brighton (corner of E. St. Paul St.) and drop off your old cell phone. For each one collected, a serviceman or woman on assignment overseas will receive a free 60 minute phone card. If you can't make it into the office yourself, give me a call at 810-220-1478 and I'll be happy to make arrangements to pick up your old cell phone equipment.

Gleaner's Food Bank - Fill The Gazebo, May 3, 2008

The Livingston County Association of Realtors has been supporting Gleaner's Food Bank for a number of years by way of its 'Fill The Gazebo' Food Drive. As the name implies, we want to fill the Brighton Millpond gazebo with food donations.

On May 3, 2008, you can drop off items on Main Street in Downtown Brighton. Realtor volunteers will be standing in the center lane to accept your food and monetary donations. We'll also be stationed aroudn the County at various grocery stores to accept donations.

In addition to food, the Gleaner's Food Pantry needs household items like laundry detergent, toothpaste and the like. All food collected stays within Livingston County for families in need. In fact, we can't support our own County's needs and Gleaner's has to bring additional food into Livingston to help support the demand for its services.

If you see a great sale at your local grocery store, consider buying extra to donate on May 3rd. If you have trouble making it into town that day, most Realtor offices will have drop offs available. Or feel free to call me at 810-220-1478 and I'll be happy to get your food or monetary donation collected.
